I.J. Gorman

Strength Coach

Ira-John “I.J.” Gorman joins the Las Vegas Locomotives as Strength and Conditioning Coach after coaching for more than 30 years at almost every competitive level, including a stint as the first Strength and Conditioning Coach for the NFL Denver Broncos.

Gorman began his coaching career as a defensive line and special teams coach at his alma mater, Anaheim (Calif.) High School and then moved on to Fullerton (Calif.) Junior College in similar capacities.

He has served as a head coach as well as an assistant at the high school level (St. Marks of Texas, Milton Academy, The Hackley School, The Meadows School, and St. Stephens/St. Agnes) and college levels (Principia College, and Army).

Gorman has published and been a speaker in the field for many years and studied under two of the foremost authorities on strength and conditioning: Dr. Bob Ward and Dr. Don Chu. He was also coached by Olympic Medalist, Russ Knipp.

A 1979 graduate of California State University at Fullerton, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education and a Master’s degree in Management in 1989 from National Louis University. He is married to China Miner Gorman, a consultant and public speaker in the human resources field.
